Whoa! no i would NOT go near a v6 or 4cyl with that big body american sedan...it's too heavy for anything less that what it has... maybe think of rebuilding the engine or giving it the best tune up yet... If you drop in a V6 or 4cyl you'll end up using justas much gas trying to get it up to speed with other traffic on streets and even worse on freeways Best wishes! "/JOe
Answer 2 :
You can but it would be good for runs to the store, I wouldnt want to take it on the E - way.
Answer 3 :
Your Lincoln Town Car is properly powered with the 4.6 engine. Replacing that with a smaller engine would require major modifications, since you have the issue of computer engine control, matching up to the existing transmission, motor mounts, and so on. Besides that, a smaller engine in such a large car might require that you put a huge sail on the roof in order to get the car to move decently. The Town Car is a full sized sedan weighing in at around two tons. Don't expect a smaller engine to do anything for you in terms of efficiency, since any smaller engine would work itself to the limits simply moving the car
